The three cricket formats and which tournaments to bet on
To understand cricket betting, it helps to know the differences between formats first. T20 is the shortest and fastest format — just 20 overs per side, with results decided within a few hours. BPL, IPL and the T20 World Cup are played in this format — the three most popular among Bangladeshi fans.
ODI, or one-day cricket, is played over 50 overs per side. Longer matches mean a wider range of betting markets — not just match winner, but also total runs, partnerships, extras and more. Test matches last five days — a draw is a valid result, so the markets are designed differently. Session-based betting in Tests calls for a slightly different approach.
You can also bet on every Bangladesh Tigers international series at pk66. BPL matches held in Dhaka get the most attention among Bangladeshi fans — familiar clubs, familiar faces.
Football and other sports betting
Alongside cricket, pk66 also offers betting on football and several other sports. Football markets go beyond match winner to include handicap, corner count and number of goals — it runs at a different pace from cricket. Where cricket is rich in over-by-over statistics, football relies more on possession and set pieces. pk66 keeps markets open regularly for other sports as well.
Popular cricket betting markets and how they work
-
Match Winner: The most common market — bet on which team will win. In T20 and ODI there are no draws, so there are only two options.
-
Toss Winner: Bet on which team wins the toss — settles before the match starts, so you get a quick result.
-
Top Batsman: Bet on which batter will score the most runs for a specific team — this market is popular with stats-minded bettors.
-
Total Runs Over/Under: A runs line is set; you choose whether the team's total runs will be above or below that line. Example: say the market is set at 160 runs — if the team scores 168, those who bet "over" win.
-
First Wicket Partnership: Bet on how many runs the opening pair will score — this market rewards an understanding of pitch and conditions.
-
Multi Bet: Combine selections from several matches — if all win the return is larger, but if one loses the entire bet is lost. There is a detailed example in the odds section below.
-
Top Bowler: Bet on which bowler will take the most wickets in the match. In T20, death-over bowlers tend to have a bigger role.
Decimal, fractional and American odds — what each one means
Odds on a betting platform can be displayed in three formats. All three express the same probability — only the way they are written differs. Below, all three formats are explained together using one example.
Decimal Odds
Team A to win, stake ৳500. Odds of 2.50 means ৳2.50 back for every ৳1. Total return ৳1,250 — of which ৳750 is profit and ৳500 is the original stake returned. If the bet loses, ৳500 is gone.
Fractional Odds
In the same match, 3/2 means ৳3 profit for every ৳2 staked. On a ৳500 bet the profit is ৳750, total return ৳1,250. All three formats express the same return — decimal 2.50 = fractional 3/2 = American +150.
American Odds
A positive number (+150) means ৳150 profit on a ৳100 bet. A negative number indicates the favourite — for example if Team B's odds are -125, you need to stake ৳125 to win ৳100 profit; on a ৳500 bet the total return is ৳900 (৳400 profit).
Multi Bet Example
Three selections from separate matches: decimal 1.40, 1.60 and 1.70. Combined odds 1.40 × 1.60 × 1.70 = 3.81 (approximately). A ৳100 bet returns ৳381 if all three selections are correct. But if any one selection is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost — a multi bet offers higher returns but also higher risk.
Odds shift the moment a wicket falls — live in-play betting
Live betting means placing bets while the match is in progress. Every wicket, every boundary or a maiden over changes the odds immediately. If the batting team loses two wickets, their chances of winning drop, so their odds go up.
Live markets update rapidly. Short-term markets such as "how many runs in the next over" or "how many wickets will fall this innings" are only available in live mode. Reading the flow of the match and acting on it is what matters here.
If you prefer more time to decide, pre-match markets before the game starts are a good option — there is more time to think. Both modes are available at pk66.
Know this before you start
Exchange Betting — what back and lay mean
In traditional betting you bet against the platform. In an exchange you bet against other bettors — that is the key difference.
Back Bet: You think Team A will win — so you back Team A at decimal 2.50 with a ৳1,000 stake. If Team A wins, profit is ৳1,500 (before commission); if not, ৳1,000 is lost.
Lay Bet: You think Team A will not win — so you lay Team A against a bettor's ৳1,000 stake. Liability is ৳1,500 (৳1,000 × 1.50). If Team A does not win, you receive ৳1,000 (before commission); if Team A wins, you pay ৳1,500.
In an exchange, a small commission is deducted from winnings — factor this into your calculations.
